• July 23&24 – Experienced Trap Shooting scorers and loaders

• July 29 – Band Together Parents Social 530-7pm; all walk down to watch end of band camp rehearsal. Look for more details soon.

CONCESSIONS UPDATE:

1. Band camp.: Concessions will be serving a $5 lunch both on Tues. 7/21 and Mon. 7/27 of band camp. Cash or card accepted. Lunch will include peanut butter and jelly Uncrushable, bag of chips, a 20oz bottle of red, white, or blue Gatorade, a snack bag of carrots, and a .5 oz sausage stick. We will put the bags together on Monday mornings or Sunday afternoons depending on volunteer availability. Contact Christie at 618-698-5323 if you have questions, financial concerns, or would be interested in volunteering. All help is welcomed and appreciated!
2. New this year for our community event on July 31, Concessions will be offering a variety of food trucks! Iced Coffee, dirty sodas, kettle corn, barbecue, Filipino food, and more! Trucks will be in place at 5 PM so come early to get a good spot in line for the gate and have supper at the same time! If you have a food truck and would like to participate, contact Christie at 618-698-5323 to be put in touch with our food truck coordinator

The math question will change every time

Congratulations to the Marching Panthers on their accomplishments during the June/July summer rehearsals and community performances.  Although it was not how we wanted it to go, the band/guard is in a great place to take the next step into the field show season.

Thank you to our directors, staff, and support parents who made everything very successful for the students.  I would like to recognized our student leadership team and our seniors for their dedication and efforts on making the experience great for everyone!

SMILEY CAMPUS BAND CAMP DATES AND TIMES:

FOR EVERYONE BAND/COLORGUARD

July 20-24; July 27-31 8am-noon; Students dismissed to have lunch on their own; 1:30pm-5pm; 5pm (dinner provided) 6pm-8pm.

• Tuesday, July 21 will be a 7am-7pm day due to the drum corps show that evening.  We will ask students to stay on campus all day and bring a sack lunch.  We will move dinner to 4:30pm that day

There are instances where we fluctuate the times due to extreme heat.  Thank you in advance for being flexible.

There will be a community performance at 7pm on July 31 in the OTHS Football Stadium.

THE NEW WEBSITE

Through the website we will be launching our new donation and support program. I will send out details on this. I will be running this program for the 26-27 school year, but will need a parent to shadow me for the 27-28 school year.

We’re excited to continue our partnership with Halpin Music, who will periodically bring their instrument repair truck right to our school this year.

This is a great opportunity for our band students to get their instruments repaired without ever leaving campus!

2. All costs are entered into CutTime, and the next payment due date is June 15

($375). Please check CutTime for your student’s balance, as any credits from this

past year rolled over.

Does your company match gifts?

Does your company/business do match gifts? We currently have a family enrolled in a gift matching program through CarMax where if you donate time or money CarMax will match the monetary gift or hours given. So, CarMax pays $15 an hour for every hour that they volunteer up to $5000 a year for matching donations, if we donate an amount of money CarMax will match that also up to a certain amount. Check with your company and see what they offer. Every little bit helps!

If you have basic CPR training, any medical certification such as nurse, AED training, EMT, medic, physician, etc and want to be on the medical team, please contact Karen Holzum at karen-nurse@hotmail.com.

Please list your name, number and medical background certification. She needs to start scheduling her medical team for our first competition of the year on September 13.

SIUE Summer Jazz Camp 

• Camp focuses on improvisation, combo and big band performance, and jazz fundamentals for middle and high school musicians. 
• This is the time that students can look for music summer camp opportunities.
